Dante Payne, de 30 años y residente de Ventura, fue arrestado después que la policía una persecución que comenzó alrededor de la 1:33 p.m. en la carretera 101 sobre la rampa de salida de Telephone Road y terminó cerca de la intersección de la avenida Petit y Petit Court.
Posteriormente, las autoridades recuperaron una escopeta cargada la cual según ellos, Payne tiró a la carretera del pick up en el que huía durante la persecución.
Los agentes de la Patrulla de Caminos de California dijeron que inicialmente trataron de hacer más porque Payne porque sospechaban que estaba conduciendo bajo la influencia.
Payne fue fichado en la cárcel del Condado de Ventura para evadir el arresto, violando la libertad condicional y la posesión de un arma de fuego robada, dijeron las autoridades.
Nadie resultó herido durante la persecución, informaron las autoridades.

ARRESTADO POR HUIR Y MATAR A PEATÓN
Un hombre de 56 años de edad de Santa Bárbara fue detenido el viernes por la mañana, después de ser el principal sospechoso en la conducción del vehículo que golpeó y mató a un hombre el jueves en Goleta.
Juan Aguilar Pérez fue detenido y llevado a la cárcel del condado de Santa Bárbara el viernes por la mañana.
Los investigadores le estuvieron estado buscando desde la mañana anterior, cuando, Miguel Gutiérrez-Vargas de 88 años de edad fue golpeado en un vecindario cerca de la intersección de las calles Walnut y Hollister Avenue.
Gutiérrez-Vargas murió debido a las lesiones horas más tarde.
«Fue un gran vecino y un gran hombre. Era amigo de mis abuelos y yo lo conocía. Vivió durante tanto tiempo sólo para morir así, es algo que realmente me duele», indicó Thomas González quien fue testigo del accidente en Goleta.
Gutiérrez Vargas, fue llevado al Hospital Cottage de Santa Barbara en estado crítico.
Aguilar, también vive en el mismo vecindario que la víctima y ahora es acusado de golpear y fugarse, así como de homicidio.
Fue detenido sólo una cuadra de la escena del accidente.
De acuerdo con el sargento Jonathan Gutiérrez, de la Patrulla de Carreteras de California, después de la colisión fatal, armaron un operativo para capturar al sospechoso.
«Teníamos una idea que el culpable probablemente iría a trabajar, por lo que pusimos oficiales en todos los rincones de la zona por lo que si alguien saliera de la zona ellos tendrán que conducir por donde estaban los oficiales, para que ellos pudieran detener a vehículos similares al que estábamos buscando… y así es como lo encontramos», explicó el Sargento Gutiérrez.
El accidente mortal se produjo en la intersección de San Lorenzo y San Felipe Drive Drive, en un área no incorporada del Condado de Santa Bárbara, justo antes de las 6 a.m. ν
El auto sospechoso era una camioneta Chevy marrón de varios años, con una avería de colisión en la parte delantera de la camioneta.
El CHP explica que Vargas sufrió una hemorragia interna, huesos fracturados, y múltiples lesiones.

After a chase through Ventura streets, which reached speeds of up to 60 mph, that turned up a stolen gun on Sunday the VTPD informed they arrested the driver.
Dante Payne, 30, of Ventura was arrested after police said he led them on a chase that began about 1:33 p.m. at the Highway 101 Telephone Road off-ramp and ended near the intersection of Petit Avenue and Petit Court. Authorities later recovered a loaded shotgun they allege Payne threw out of his truck during the chase, according to the Ventura City Police Department.
California Highway Patrol officers said they initially tried to pull Payne over because they suspected he was driving under the influence.
Payne was booked into the Ventura County Jail for evading arrest, violating parole and possession of a stolen firearm, authorities said.
No one was injured during the chase, according to the VTPD.
ARRESTED FOR LOADED GUN
The Oxnard Police Department arrested a man on Sunday under charges for suspicion of having a concealed, loaded gun in his car.
Jesus Sandoval Ortiz, 44, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of several gun-related charges.
The OXPD officers said they initially pulled Ortiz; car over shortly after 1 a.m. due to possibly speeding.
The vehicle, according to the authorities was headed south on Oxnard Boulevard near Seventh Street.
Police stated the driver’s license had been suspended, and while searching the car, one of the officers found a gun on the floor.
The handgun apparently was inside a red bandanna and had a magazine loaded with seven rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, police said.
Ortiz was taken to jail Sunday with a $80,000 bail.
SBPD WORRIED ABOUT POKEMON GO — USERS
As Poke-mania sweeps the nation, the Santa Barbara Police Department put out the following safety tips so that friends and families playing «Pokemon Go» can enjoy a fun and safe experience when using their smartphones to explore public spaces:
Don’t walk into the street while looking at your mobile device and be aware of your surroundings while you play – traffic is dangerous and fixed objects hurt when you walk into them.
Do not drive while playing – distracted driving is dangerous and against the law. Likewise, don’t ride your bike or skate while playing.
Avoid the temptation to go into areas, like dark alleys, that you would not normally feel comfortable exploring.
When searching at night stay in well-lit areas.
Stay off of private property, including train tracks, and obey the posted regulations and closure times for public areas.
Do not sneak around police stations, fire stations, or emergency vehicles – your activity may appear suspicious.
Be respectful of others – do not disrupt businesses or interrupt public gatherings.
Play with a companion – there is safety in numbers.
Parents – tell your kids about stranger danger and set limits on where they are allowed to go.
If you suspect that you are being followed or find yourself in a bad situation, go to a safe place and use your phone to call 9-1-1.
Sgt. Riley Harwood with SBPD said that recently, a late-night «Pokemon Go» player returned to his car only to find a stranger in it. He says there’s been countless of reports from around the country of players having accident, trespassing, and being the victims of crime.

ARRESTED FOR DUI AND KILLING A PEDESTRIAN
A 56-year old Santa Barbara man was arrested Friday morning, after being the main suspect in driving the vehicle that struck and killed a local man Thursday.
Juan Aguilar Perez was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail Friday morning.
Investigators had been searching for him since the previous morning, when 88-year old Miguel Gutierrez-Vargas was struck in a neighborhood intersection near Walnut and Hollister.
Gutierrez-Vargas died from his injuries hours later.
“He was a great neighbor and a great man. He was my grandparents’ friend and I knew him. He lived for that long just to died like this it really hurts me,” said Thomas González who witnessed the accident in Goleta.
Aguilar, also lives in the same neighborhood as the victim and now is accused of hit and run and manslaughter.
He was arrested just a block from the scene of the accident.
According to Sergeant Jonathan Gutierrez of the California Highway Patrol, after the fatal collision, they put together an operative to catch the suspect.
“We had an idea of the person was probably going to work, so we set officers in every corner of the area so if someone was going to leave they will have to drive by the officers. So they could stop vehicles similar to the one we were looking for… and that is how we found him,” said Sgt. Gutierrez.

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of San Lorenzo Drive and San Felipe Drive in an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County, just before 6 a.m.
.Authorities were searching for an older model maroon Chevy pickup truck, with a collision damage to the front of the pickup.
Gutierrez Vargas, was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in critical condition.
The CHP says Vargas suffered internal bleeding, fractured bones, and multiple abrasions.
CHP stated Mr. Vargas was walking across the street when the pickup smashed into him while in the roadway.
The suspect fled the scene and made a right turn onto Andy Lane.
