Jonathan Henry-Walker, estudiante de las Channel Island State University (CSUCI), fue arrestado y acusado de violar a tres estudiantes de dicha universidad.

El viernes su comparecencia fue pospuesta y liberado de la cárcel después de pagar una fianza de $100 mil dólares.

Henry-Walker es acusado de violación forzada por delito grave, y fue colocado en una suspensión interina del campus de Camarillo, después de que tres compañeras informaran que las había violado en el otoño de 2016.

«Todos fueron incidentes separados, y cada una de las tres estudiantes nombró al mismo estudiante como el responsable», indicó el teniente Michael Morris con el Departamento de Policía de la CSUCI.

La primera supuesta violación ocurrió el 9 o 10 de septiembre en un dormitorio en el campus, la segunda también ocurrió en un dormitorio el 11 de septiembre.

Una tercera mujer informó haber sido violada fuera del campus por el mismo hombre el 19 de octubre, pero las estudiantes reportaron las violaciones hasta noviembre.

«Lo que estamos dispuestos a decir es que tenemos información de que las víctimas estaban incapacitadas en ese momento. Ya se trate de drogas o alcohol o una combinación de allí, está bajo investigación «, dijo Morris.

Henry-Walker se trasladó a Channel Islands en el otoño de 2016.

El estudiante de 23 años vivía en el campus y se especializaba en psicología cuando se realizaban las acusaciones de violación.

TREN MATA A ESTUDIANTE EN SB

El departamento del sheriff del condado de Santa Bárbara (SBCSD), identificó a un estudiante de la High School secundaria golpeado por un tren como Connor O’Keefe de 18 años de edad.

California State University Channel Islands student is charged with raping a three fellow students.

On Friday his arraignment was postponed and he was released from jail after posting $100,000 bail.

Cal State University Channel Islands student Jonathan Henry-Walker is charged with felony forcible rape. 

He was placed on interim suspension from the Camarillo campus, after three female students reported he had raped them in the fall.

“There were three separate female students, Channel Islands Students, who reported that they had been raped.  They were all separate incidents, and each of the three students named the same male student as the accused,” said Lt. Michael Morris with the CSUCI Police Department.

The first alleged rape happened Sept. 9 or 10 in a dorm room on campus. The second alleged rape also happened in a dorm room on Sept. 11.

A third woman reported being raped off campus by the same man on Oct. 19, but the students reported the alleged rapes until November.

The alleged rapes took place between September and October, officers say one happened off-campus, the other two happened in on-campus dorms.

“What we are prepared to say is that we have information that the victims were incapacitated at that time. Whether it was drugs or alcohol or a combination there of, it is under investigation,” said Morris.

Henry-Walker transferred to Channel Islands in the fall of 2016. 

The 23-year-old student was living on campus and majoring in psychology when the rape accusations were made.

Since the accusations he has been living at his home in San Bernardino, where he was arrested without incident on Thursday.

If Henry-Walker is convicted he would face 8 years in prison. 

He would also be required to register as a sex offender.

VENTURA FAIR DRAWING COMPETITION

As it is a tradition in the Central Coast the 8th annual Ventura County Fair poster contest is now open and accepting entries from artists in grades 5 to 12th.

This years Fair’s theme is «Rooted in Tradition» and will serve as the guideline to the imagery. 

“Artwork may be created in any medium but may not include the use of glitter, metallic paint, or 3 dimensional objects attached to the artwork, and it is open to students who reside in Ventura County.

Poster designs will be judged on Theme, Originality, Composition and Skill”, said VCF Communications Director, James Lockwood.

Entries will be accepted until the entry deadline, Friday, April 7.

The contest will also award prizes to the top three entries, First prize: $500, Second Prize: $250, Third Prize: $100, among a certificate of winning.

The winning design will be used to advertise the Fair on Fair posters, souvenirs, advertisements and other applications.

Second and third place winners will also be used in various Fair publicity applications.

All entries will be displayed in the Youth Expo at the VCF. 

Each child who enters will receive 2 Fair admission tickets and will ride with the Junior Fair Board in the 2017 VCF Parade. 

This year the Ventura County Fair will begin its annual 12-day run Wednesday, August 2 and continue until Sunday, August 13.

The art pieces can be brought to the Fairgrounds administration office at 10 W. Harbor Blvd. in Ventura.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m until 5 p.m., offices are closed for lunch daily from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m..

STUDENT KILLED BY TRAIN IN SB

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD), identified a High School student struck by a train as 18-year-old Connor O’Keefe.

The incident happened near Fernald Point in Montecito around 1:20 p.m., Saturday.

According to the SBCSD, the teen was walking on the railroad tracks when the Amtrak train approached.

Investigations revealed he might have not be alone when he was walking near the tracks.

The train activated its brakes and blew its horn but the young man did not respond to the train.

Amtrak traffic was delayed briefly while crews investigated.

Friends of the family are remembering O’Keefe as a SB High School senior and water polo player.

TWO ARRESTED IN SM

The SM Police Department (SMPD) arrested Luis Garcia 23-year-old and his passenger, 23-year-old, Jessica Moreno Friday afternoon, after agents say they broke into a home and then led police on a high speed chase through the streets of Santa Maria.

According to a press release from the SMPD, at around 3:18 p.m. officers responded to a report of a burglary on the 1400 block of West Main Street.

A citizen interrupted the burglary and provided law enforcement with a description of the suspect vehicle, who was previously reported stolen, and license plate.

Shortly after the pair fled the scene of the burglary, they were spotted by police in the area of Pine Street and Cook Street.

Offices attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop, then they postponed their pursuit due to safety concerns, as the vehicle went through residential streets at a high speed.

The car was located at the intersection of Russell Avenue and Morrison Ave., where the driver crashed into parked vehicles, then he fled the scene on foot and a passenger was found in the vehicle and arrested.

Officers searched the immediate area and arrested the driver after a brief foot chase.

García and Moreno were found to be in possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

Moreno was treated at Marian Hospital for injuries related to the crash. Both were booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail, they could face possible drug related charges and charges for the stolen vehicle and burglary.

Garcia was also booked on complaints of felony evading, hit and run with injury and driving under the influence of drugs causing injury.
