La semana pasada, la Policía del Vecindario equipo del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard y el estado del departamento de Alcohol y Control de Bebidas (ABC) llevaron a cabo una operación encubierta para detener a personas que suministran alcohol a menores, la cual dejó cuatro arrestos.
Los infractores fueron detenidos por delito menor, violación al código 25658 (a) del Código de Negocios y Profesiones para el suministro de alcohol a menores.
Los agentes del OXPD seleccionaron zonas de alto tráfico que tienen tiendas de conveniencia y tiendas de licores que suministran bebidas alcohólicas, donde varios menores de edad, merodeaban frente a estas tiendas y pedían a las personas si les compraban cerveza.
Los jóvenes “señuelos” le decían desde el inicio a las sujetos que no tenían la edad suficiente para comprar alcohol y les pedían sí lo harían para ellos.
Así, durante un período de cuatro horas cuatro hombres acordaron suministrar bebidas alcohólicas a los menores.
Se observó a cada sospechoso tomar dinero de los señuelos y entrar a las tiendas para comprar bebidas alcohólicas.
Cada uno de los cuatro sospechosos regresaron a donde estaban los jóvenes y entregaron bebidas alcohólicas a los menores de edad.
Los hombres fueron detenidos a poca distancia de las tiendas donde fueron interrogados.
Cada sospechoso admitió que habían comprado cerveza para los menores y se sabían que no tenían edad suficiente para comprar el alcohol por sí mismos.
Cada uno de los sospechosos recibió una citación de delito menor y dejado en libertad en la escena.

Last week, the Oxnard Police Department Neighborhood Policing Team and The State of California Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) conducted a sting operation to apprehend offenders who furnish alcohol to minors resulting in four arrests.
The violators were arrested for misdemeanor citation, 25658(a) of the Business and Professions Code for furnishing alcohol to minors.
The OXPD selected high traffic areas that have convenience stores and liquor stores that sell alcoholic beverages, where several underage decoys who are under the age of 21, loitered in front of these stores and asked people if they would buy them beer. T
The decoys would tell people that they were not old enough to buy alcohol and asked people if they would go into the store and buy the beer for them.
Over a four hour period four men agreed to furnish alcoholic beverages to the minors.
Each suspect was observed taking money from the decoys and entering the stores to buy alcoholic beverages.
Each of the four suspects came back outside and handed alcoholic beverages to the underage decoys.
The men were detained a short distance away from the stores and questioned. Each suspect admitted that they had bought beer for the minors and they understood that they were not old enough to buy the alcohol themselves.
Each of the suspects were issued a misdemeanor citation and released from the scene.
The retail locations did not commit any violations and they were unaware of the police presence during the time of the operation, while thealcoholic beverages were later returned to the stores after the arrests were made.
The OXPD Neighborhood Policing Team focuses on crime and quality of life issues at the neighborhood level with a focus on Community Policing and Problem Solving.
Their efforts include working with other agencies such as The Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control to address those issues.
GANG MEMBER ARRESTED IN OXNARD
A registered gang member from Oxnard, Brandon Herrera, was arrested after trying to fled from officers from the OXPD after receiving a call that a man was placing a handgun into a vehicle, described as a white Acura.
Guerra was arrested for a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, evading police officers, and hit and run driving.
Officers arrived to the 600 Block of E. Iris Street where they checked the area but did not found the vehicle, but after a short time, they located it near the intersection of Ventura Road and Hill Street.
The officers attempted to stop Guerra, who is a documented member of an Oxnard criminal street gang, but were unable to catch up to him, then officers pursued him to the 1500 Block of North “C” Street, where the suspect vehicle collided with another car.
There were no injuries as a result of this collision.
The gang member fled the scene to the 1200 Block of Camelot Way.
A perimeter was set and officers conducted a yard to yard search of the area. With the assistance of an Oxnard PD K-9, the suspect was located hiding in a room in the detached garage of a residence.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
A loaded handgun with ammunition was located in the vehicle driven by the suspect.
WINDOW SMASHERS ARRESTED IN SM
The Santa Maria Police Department arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for a large number of “window smash” automobile burglaries throughout the SMValley.
The arrests of Daniel Castro, 24, and 19-year-old Salvador Perez of Santa Maria came after following a month-long investigation by the SB County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s detectives are requesting the public’s help in identifying a third suspect involved and are releasing surveillance photos of the suspects.
Over the past 30 days, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has investigated numerous automobile burglaries in the rural, unincorporated areas surrounding Santa Maria.
During these burglaries, the suspects broke car windows to gain access to the interior of vehicles and stole numerous purses, wallets and other personal property. In one instance, the suspect stole a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
The suspects subsequently used credit cards stolen s to make numerous purchases at local businesses throughout the SM Valley.
Last Tuesday, Sheriff’s deputies served search warrants at two locations within the City of SM, after identifying Castro and Perez as two of the primary suspects involved in the thefts.
During the service of the search warrants, stolen property was recovered at both locations and both men were taken into custody without incident. Castro’s vehicle was seized and while being processed for evidence, Sheriff’s Deputies located and recovered the stolen & loaded 9mm handgun. ν
Further investigation revealed that Castro and Perez were also involved in additional crimes including vehicle theft, arson and commercial burglary. Both men were booked into the SB County Jail on a variety of felony charges to include conspiracy, burglary, vehicle theft, arson, possession of stolen property, identity theft and being felons in possession of a firearm.
Perez is out on $50,000 bail and Castro is being held without bail for a probation violation.
There is still one suspect, therefore the authorities are asking the help of the public to locate him by calling the Santa Maria Sheriff’s Station at, 805-934-6150.
CHANGES IN THE VENTURA JAIL
The Ventura County Sheriff is informing the community that from September 6 and through September 27, the Todd Road Jail inmate visiting will be closed due to parking lot construction.
Visiting will resume on September 28, while professional visits with attorney, medical staff or clergy will not be impacted.
Family and friends wishing to place money on inmate accounts are asked to do so at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura or at the East County Jail in Thousand Oaks (exact change-cash only).
However, the Todd Road Public Reception will be open to accept deposits on a limited basis during construction
GUN POSSESION ARREST
The Santa Barbara County Probation Department Officers requested assistance from the Compliance Response Team (CRT) with a home visit for violent suspect under probation.
Ryan Brookshier 34-year-old of Santa Maria was arrested for numerous violations involving felon posesion of a firearm (29800 PC), Alter firearm identification number (23900 PC), felon in possession of ammunition (30305 PC) and possession of a controlled substance (11377 H+S).
In the past, officers from the Probation Department attempted unsuccessfully to conduct a search of Brookshier’s residence.
Probation Officers, CRT and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau detectives went to Brookshier’s residence.
Entry was made into Brookshier’s room to conduct a search per the terms of his probation.
During the search, a Smith and Wesson .45 caliber handgun with the identification number removed and numerous rounds of various caliber ammunition were found.
Located in a safe in Brookshier’s room, detectives located another handgun, ammunition, Brookshier’s identification, a military Vietnam era smoke incendiary grenade and steroids.
A second male was also arrested at the residence for unrelated traffic warrants.
