Ventura Police officers arrested three violent suspects early Thursday morning in connected but separate incidents in Ventura.

The first arrest took place just before 4 a.m. on the 1100 block of East Santa Clara Street, when police responded for a report of a man who was hitting parked cars and yelling that he wanted to kill someone.

Police arrived and found Nicholas Goodrich, 24, of Ventura. Police believed that Goodrich was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police say Goodrich was being cooperative and following instructions until he suddenly charged the officers.

A brief struggle ensued which involved an officer deploying a baton.

After about five minutes Goodrich was subdued and taken into custody.

He was medically cleared for injuries suffered during the arrest and was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

Later that night at around 5:10 a.m, a patrol officer was leaving the Ventura County Jail when he observed a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Victoria Avenue near Telephone Road.

Before the officer could stop the vehicle, the driver stopped in the middle of the road and got out of the vehicle.

The officer determined the suspect was showing signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The officer attempted to detain the man before he could re-enter the vehicle.

The suspect resisted the officer and after a brief struggle the suspect was tased.

Police say the taser had no affect and the suspect began to flee on foot. Another officer arrived on scene and they were able to bring the suspect into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Devin Pro, 27, of Ventura.

Pro was medically cleared and then booked into the Ventura County Jail for felony resisting arrest and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

A third arrest was made at around 7:40 a.m. on the 1100 block of East Santa Clara Street.

Police responded to the area after receiving a report of a nude man walking near Lincoln Elementary School.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the suspect. Police determined that the suspect was showing obvious signs of being under the influence

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

He has been identified as Kristopher Rodi, 25, of Ventura.

Rodi could face charges for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police say that all three suspects know each other and had taken an undisclosed hallucinogenic drug.

The vehicle Pro was found to be driving belonged to Goodrich.

5 YEARS OLD MISSING FOUND DEAD

The body of 5-year-old Aramazd Andressian Jr. has been found at Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County, according to investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives returned to Cachuma Lake on June 30 based on recent evidence and new leads they collected in the case and located the remains of the Pasadena boy.

The father, 35-year-old Aramazd Andressian Sr., was arrested by authorities on June 23 in Las Vegas and charged with the murder of his son.

During a June 26 press conference, investigators said Andressian Sr. planned to flee the country and that his attitude and socializing in Las Vegas was unbecoming of a grieving parent.

Aramazd Jr. was last seen with his father leaving Disneyland at 1 a.m. on April 20th.

Investigators believe the crime occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and when the father arrived at Cachuma Lake several hours later.

Andressian Sr. was located the following day passed out at a South Pasadena park claiming he had no knowledge of the whereabouts of his 5-year-old son.Police say Andressian Sr. has not cooperated with investigators.

The boy’s mother had come to Santa Barbara and plead for the safe return of her son.

Andressian Sr. faces 25 years to life in a state prison if convicted.

SOCCER COMPLEX SACKED BY THE STATE

An ambitious plan to build new soccer fields in Santa Maria to keep up with growing demand for more facilities has suffered a setback.

The California Department of Parks and recreation has notified the City of Santa Maria it was not selected to receive a $1 million grant to help kick-start the proposed multi-field complex.

The million dollar grant was seen as vital seed money to start the soccer complex project that includes up to seven soccer fields with parking on a 19 acre strawberry field at the southwest corner of Depot and Stowell Roads. ν

«This is disappointing news», said Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Director Alex Posada in a prepared statement, «staff members from many City departments and members of the community, as well as the property owners of the proposed site, spend many hours working to meet the State’s criteria and deadlines for this particular grant.»

The project has been more than a year in the making and is designed to address the need for more soccer fields.

«Its sad but we’re going to be using whatever parks we have available», says Anabel Colores who has three sons playing club soccer in Santa Maria, «I’ve got them in different leagues and its always a challenge to find a different practice field. You see everybody practicing every day of the week, you see games on Saturdays and Sundays.»

Most in the community agree soccer, and youth sports in general, is the most effective way to keep kids busy in a healthy way and out of trouble.

Local youth soccer coach Carlos Reyes says the community needs to keep trying to find the money to build more soccer facilities in Santa Maria saying there’s too much at stake.

Without the million dollar state grant, getting the soccer complex started, let alone paid for with an estimated price tag of between $3 and $4 million, will be a challenge.

«We need an investor to invest in the youth of our community because that’s probably the only way its going to happen», adds soccer mom Anabel Colores.

The City of Santa Maria says it will now seek other funding sources to keep the soccer complex project moving forward in the near future.
