SBNC: “estamos acá para ayudar” / SBNC: «We are here to help»

El pasado miércoles 18 se realizó un evento en la Eastside Neighborhood Clinic para agradecer y dar conocer a la comunidad la amplia variedad de servicios que ofrece esta organización en sus 6 sedes dentro del condado de SB.   

“Estamos celebrando el hecho que todavía continuamos operando exitosamente, y porque queremos agradecer a toda la comunidad y socios”, señaló espontáneo el Dr. Charles Penzi, Director Médico y Jefe de las SBNC desde 2012, para El Latino.

Durante el “Open House” que consistió en una recepción en las afueras del consultorio donde protegidos bajo carpa de la lluvia que se hizo presente ese día, doctores, líderes y funcionarios locales, celebraron y conocieron más de cerca labor de las Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics (SBNC).

“Son unos 24 mil pacientes que son ‘únicos’ que están registrados y que atendemos. Es un trabajo tan importante el que se realiza, quizás uno de los mejores trabajos que he tenido”, resaltó el Dr. Penzi, proveniente de New México donde laboró unos 30 años en puestos similares.

En el evento además hubo aperitivos ligeros y música de guitarra clásica, así como un tour por las instalaciones de la Clínica dental, donde se mostró acerca de las muchas ventajas y facilidades que existen para toda las familias y donde admiten casi todo tipo de seguro.

Entre estos servicios que no serían posible sin la ayuda de muchos donantes y voluntarios, están los de medicina familiar, cuidado preventivo, salud de la mujer, cuidado y guía para enfermedades crónicas, pediatría, salud del comportamiento y atención dental entre otros.

Y es que las SBNC es una institución sin fines de lucro ha brindado por los últimos 18 años servicios de salud a cientos de miles de personas de escasos recursos.

“Estamos tratando de que la gente sepa que estamos con la comunidad,  que básicamente pueden venir con nosotros y no les dé miedo con todo lo que está pasando ahora políticamente; que sepan que nosotros estamos aquí para ayudarles”, precisó Yessenia Marroquín, Directora de Operaciones al servicio de las clínicas. ν

Por su parte, Amalia Priego, coordinadora de salud de las SBNC dijo que han en los últimos años han crecido mucho.

“Aparte de nuestras cuatro clínicas de medicina general y las dos dentales, tenemos una clínica satélite en la escuela Harding y también estamos colaborando con La Cumbre Junior High School”, finalizó la ejecutiva.

The Eastside Neighborhood Clinic held an event to thank and show to community members the wide variety of services offered by this organization at its six locations within SB County. 

«We are celebrating the fact that we are still successfully operating, and to thank the community and partners for their support,» said =Dr. Charles Penzi, who has been the Medical Chief Director since 2012.

At the «Open House», doctors, leaders and local officials, sheltered outside from the rain, celebrating and learning more about the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics (SBNC).

«We have about 24 thousand registered patients who are ‘unique’ and who we served. It is such an important job that is done in the clinics… this is perhaps one of the best jobs I have had, «said Dr. Penzi who came from New Mexico where he worked for 30 years in similar positions.

Attendees enjoyed a tour of the Dental Clinic where they could see the many benefits the SBNC provides for almost all families with or without insurance.

Among these services, that would not be possible without the help of many donors and volunteers, are family medicine, preventive care, women’s health, care and guidance for chronic diseases, pediatrics, behavioral health and dental care, among others.

«We are trying to let people know that we are with the community, that they can basically come to us and not being scare with everything that is happening right now politically. We want to ensure they know that we are here to help them,» said Yessenia Marroquín, Director of Operations.  

Meanwhile, Amalia Priego, Health Coordinator of the SBNC said that they have experienced a rapid expansion in recent years.

«Apart from our four general medicine and two dental clinics, we have a satellite clinic at Harding and we are also collaborating with La Cumbre Junior High School,» the executive said. ν
