The Ventura County Office of Education announced school closures across several districts due to the Mountain Fire impacting the area.

The closures will take effect Thursday, Nov. 7, and Friday, Nov. 8, as fire crews work to control the blaze and ensure community safety.

Affected Districts include Camarillo, Somis, Moorpark, Ventura and Oxnard where evacuation orders and road closures remain in place.

“The decision to close schools prioritizes the safety of students, staff, and families in areas near the fire,” said VCOE Superintendent, Dr. Cesar Morales.

Ventura County officials are coordinating with emergency services to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates on any changes.

“Families are encouraged to stay informed through local news channels and the Ventura County Office of Education’s website for the latest information,” said Dr. Morales.

Authorities urge residents to adhere to evacuation orders and be prepared for potential extended closures, depending on fire conditions and containment efforts.
