District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Javier Miramontez Jr. (DOB 08/19/92), of Oxnard, was sentenced on June 11, 2024, to 24 years state prison for the molestation of a young family member.
Miramontez Jr. previously pled guilty on May 15, 2024, to three felony counts of lewd acts on a minor. He also admitted to several special allegations and aggravating factors, including that the victim was vulnerable, and that he took advantage of a position of trust.
Beginning in 2013, Miramontez Jr., who was approximately 21 years old, repeatedly molested the victim when she was between seven and ten years old. The abuse happened at family get-togethers, on trips, and during sleepovers. The criminal conduct continued at various family events for nearly three years and only stopped once the victim revealed the abuse to another family member.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Edward Andrews, a member of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Unit, prosecuted the case.
“The victim and her family courageously spoke at the sentencing hearing about surviving this trauma,” Mr. Andrews said. “These crimes depend on secrecy, and I hope that others will be encouraged by the victim’s bravery to come forward.”
Miramontez Jr. is scheduled for a restitution hearing on August 12, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 45 of the Ventura County Superior Court.
