Johnson is also charged with three felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and one felony count of criminal threats, including special allegations of the crime involving great violence, and personal use of a firearm.

Johnson is accused of stabbing Mr. Juarez (DOB 01/29/91), on August 29, 2024, with a knife while both men and a woman were in Mr. Juarez’s vehicle. Juarez was able to pull over and exit the vehicle, along with the woman, near Channel Islands Boulevard and Rice Avenue, outside the city of Oxnard. Johnson allegedly jumped in the driver’s seat and fled.

Mr. Juarez was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Later that same day, Johnson drove to a home in Camarillo where he knew one of the homeowners. He confronted a male victim in the garage and is accused of pistol whipping him and threatening to kill him. Another resident at the home, Ms. Gallagher (DOB 12/10/48) entered the garage.

Johnson is accused of beating her with the gun. Johnson was confronted by another man who came over to help. Johnson is accused of hitting him in the face with the gun and as the victim ran to a nearby door, Johnson allegedly fired one round. The gun then jammed.

Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the house and arrested Johnson without further incident. Ms. Gallagher was transported to Los Robles Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Amber Lee, a member of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Homicides Unit, is prosecuting the case.

Johnson made his first court appearance on September 3, 2024, in Ventura County Superior Court. His arraignment was continued to September 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 13. He remains in custody without bail.
