Property owners whose properties sustained physical damage of more than $10,000 due to the Mountain Fire may qualify for property tax relief, according to the Ventura County Assessor’s Office.
The office offers services to help property owners adjust their property’s current assessment to reflect the damage caused by the fire, potentially reducing their property taxes for the current year.
Automatic and Application-Based Relief
The Assessor’s Office is proactively identifying damaged properties and processing disaster relief automatically where applicable. However, property owners can also submit their own application for reassessment if they believe they qualify for disaster relief but have not been contacted.
