La semana pasada dos mujeres fueron arrestadas luego de robar una cartera y las tarjetas de credito de dos caminantes que habían dejado su vehículo, mientras ascendían en una de las veredas de la zona de Matilija Canyon Road y la carretera 33, camino a Ojai.
Aproximadamente a la media noche, un grupo llegó a la zona popular para caminata, donde dejaron su vehículo, sin embargo cuando regresaron, descubrieron que fueron víctimas de robo
Una víctima le fue hurtado su bolso donde llevaba tarjetas de crédito.
Los detectives de la estación de Ojai comenzaron a investigar el crimen, y descubrieron que la tarjetas de la víctima se usaron en la tienda Walmart en de Ventura el mismo día.
La tienda entregó un vídeo de seguridad el cual reveló a dos mujeres utilizando las tarjetas de crédito robadas.
Acto seguido, los agentes obtuvieron una solicitud para identificar a los sospechosos, la cual enviada a distintos medios de comunicación y de redes sociales.
La solicitud contenía un clip de vídeo de las sospechosas haciendo transacciones fraudulentas.
Varios ciudadanos reconocieron a las mujeres y revelaron sus nombres a la policía.
El 22 de septiembre los detectives de la estación de Ojai llegaron a la cuadra de la calle Devonshire 1300 en la ciudad de Oxnard, donde Melissa Durazo y Stephanie Godoy fueron contactadas e identificados como los presuntas responsables de este delito de robo de identidad.
Durazo fue detenida por una orden pendiente y Godoy por el robo de identidad, robo y falsificación.
Ambas ladronas fueron trasladadas a la Cárcel del Condado de Ventura principal donde permanecen bajo custodia.
La fianza para Durazo fue fijada en $ 5,000, mientras que la de Godoy en $55,000.

RESCATE EN GIBRALTAR RD

Una vez se pusieron en contacto con las víctimas, el supervisor de despacho proporcionó instrucciones médicas previas a la llegada e instruyó a los hombres encender las luces del vehículo.
El personal de rescate estaba conduciendo y caminando al lado de la carretera cuando un oficial del PCH vio unas luces en una esquina muy pronunciada.

Sus lesiones aparecieron a moderada pero se desconocen sus condiciones en este momento.
Este rescate sigue otro coche por el incidente que se produjo a las 2 de la madrugada.
En ese caso, dos hombres de 20 años de SB conducían hasta Gibraltar Road cuandoun movimiento brusco en una curba los tiró al precipidio.Afortunadamente, los dos ocupantes no resultaron gravemente heridos y fueron rescatados por bomberos del Condado.
FRAUDE DE AUTOS
Aproximadamente a las 2:45 del 19 de septiembre una anciana de 86 años de edad, residente de Goleta regresaba a su vehículo después de hacer las compras en una tienda localizada en la cuadra 5800 de Calle Real.
Un hombre se y le dijo que sus luces de freno se rompieron y se ofreció para arreglarlos.
El sospechoso fue con las niñas y varios que hablaron con la víctima, mientras que el individuo «arreglaba» el vehículo, además solicitó el pago e incluso fue tan lejos como para escribir la víctima un recibo de piezas que nunca fueron cambiadas.
El alto pago al sospechoso y poco después se dio cuenta de que era víctima de una estafa.
Agentes del alguacil respondieron y llevaron a cabo una investigación sobre el incidente.
Al revisar el video de vigilancia observaron que el mismo sospechoso y un segundo individuo se acercaron a otras personas en el estacionamiento y arruinaron a drede vehículos estacionados ahí.
En un momento en el video, el propietario de un vehículo apareció a pagar el segundo sospechoso.
Los sospechosos están asociados 2012-2016 Toyota Prius c color oscuro.

Last week at approximately 12:45 PM, a visitor and her friends arrived in the area of Matilija Canyon Road and Highway 33 where they locked their vehicle and went hiking.
When they returned, they discovered they were the victims of a vehicle burglary.
A victim had her purse containing credit cards stolen.
Detectives from the Ojai Station began investigating this crime. It was discovered that the victim’s stolen credit card was used at a Walmart Store in the city of Ventura the same day (08/09/2016).
Video of the suspects using the stolen credit card was obtained from Walmart Store.
A request to identify the suspects was sent out to the public.
The request contained a video clip of the suspects making the fraudulent transactions. Several citizens recognized the suspects from the video and provided their names to law enforcement.
On September 9, detectives from the Ojai Station went to the 1300 block of Devonshire Street in the city of Oxnard where suspects Melissa Durazo and Stephanie Godoy were contacted and positively identified as the suspects responsible for this identity theft crime.
Durazo was arrested for an outstanding warrant and Godoy was arrested for identity theft, burglary, and forgery.
Both parties were booked into the Ventura County Main Jail where they remain in custody.
Bail was set for Durazo at $5,000.00 and Godoy at $ 55,000.00.
The Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 reward for information, which leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for this crime. The caller may remain anonymous. The call is not recorded, call at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
TWO CARS RECOVERED AFTER FALLING ON GIBRALTAR RD
Last Thursday, just before 10 p.m., emergency personnel from the Montecito Fire Protection District, SB County Fire Department, SB City Fire Department, SB County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, American Medical Response and California Highway Patrol responded to a 9-1-1 call from two male individuals in their twenties that had driven off the road near 2900 Gibraltar Road.
After rolling over down the steep cliff side several times their vehicle came to rest against another vehicle 400 feet down that had gone down the side only 20 hours earlier.
Initially, the location was not known as there was no witnesses to the car going over the side.
Dispatchers with the Santa Barbara County Public Safety Dispatch Center helped to locate the subjects by ‘pinging’ a cell phone.
Once they made contact with the victims, the dispatch supervisor provided medical pre-arrival instructions and instructed the men to turn their car lights on.
Rescue personnel wre driving and walking the side of the road when a CHP officer spotted their headlights off a steep sharp corner.
Using a combined mutual aid response, rescue personnel set up ropes to lower fire/paramedics from Montecito Fire along with Search and Rescue personnel to medically treat the two males and secure them in a stretcher. Additional personnel from Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and Santa Barbara City Fire rappelled down to the car to assist while rope systems were set up on Gibraltar Road to raise the two men in ‘Stokes’ Stretchers.
Two different rope evolutions were required to raise the victims back to the road where they were turned over to AMR paramedics for treatment and transport to a local hospital.
Their injuries appeared to moderate but their conditions are unknown at this time.
This rescue follows another car over the side incident that occurred at 2 a.m. yesterday at the same location.
In that case, two males in their early 20’s from Santa Barbara were driving up Gibraltar Road when they did not successfully navigate the sharp turn in the road and went off the side. Fortunately, the two occupants were not seriously injured and the County Fire and Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel with rope systems were able to raise the men back up 400 feet to Gibraltar Road where they were transported by AMR paramedics to a local hospital.
The County Search and Rescue Team want to remind all those driving on backcountry backcountry roads to be extra careful and attentive to driving the sharp and steep turns.
CAR SCAM
Last Friday at approximately 2:45 p.m., an 86-year-old resident from the unincorporated area near Goleta was returning to his vehicle after grocery shopping in the 5800 block of Calle Real.
The senior citizen was approached by a suspect who told him that his brake lights were broken and offered to fix them.
The suspect was with a female and several children who talked to the victim while the suspect “fixed” the vehicle.
The suspect requested payment and even went so far as to write the victim a receipt for parts that he never replaced.
The senior paid the suspect and shortly after realized he was the victim of a scam.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and conducted an investigation into the incident.
Upon reviewing the surveillance video they observed that the same suspect and a second suspect approached other people in the parking lot and tampered with unoccupied vehicles.
At one point on the video, a vehicle owner appeared to pay the second suspect.
