El Departamento del Alguacil del Condado de Ventura arrestó a dos pandilleros durante una parada de tráfico el jueves por la tarde en el área de Oxnard conocida como El Río.

Los agentes intentaron detener a Gerald Silva, de 20 años, alrededor de las 2 p.m. en la cuadra 300 de Stroube Street.

Silva es un conocido miembro de pandilla y actualmente está en libertad condicional y con él estaba Joel Mendoza de 20 años, de El Río, otro conocido pandillero que recientemente fue liberado de la Prisión Estatal.

Mientras los oficiales intentaban conducir la parada de tráfico, Mendoza se tiró del vehículo cuando este aún no se detenía y huyó a pie.

Los diputados dijeron que Mendoza se fue a una área de casas cercanas, saltó las vallas e intentó desechar parafernalia de narcóticos, que luego fue ubicada por un perro policía (K-9).

Mendoza fue arrestado y llevado en la Instalación de Detención Previa al Juicio donde enfrenta posibles cargos por resistir y/u obstruir a un agente público, por narcóticos y violación de los términos de su libertad.

Mientras los otros agentes persiguieron a Mendoza, Silva huyó en su vehículo.

Los oficiales buscaron el área y localizaron a Silva en la cuadra 2500 de Cortez Street, donde se descubrió que estaba en posesión de narcóticos y fue arrestado por múltiples violaciones a su libertad condicional.

ARRESTADO POR ACUCHILLAR

Un hombre de Ventura está tras las rejas después de presuntamente apuñalará a un empleado en una tienda de descuento en Ventura, el domingo por la tarde.

La policía indicó que Gilbert Ortiz, de Ventura, 29 años, ingresó a la tienda de descuento en la cuadra 100 de Main Street alrededor de la 1:30 p.m.

La recepcionista le pidió que saliera de la tienda después de que lo viera seleccionando artículos detrás del mostrador.

Al parecer, Ortiz se lanzó sobre el mostrador al empleado, apuñalándola con un cuchillo y cortándola en la cara y la mano.

Un transeúnte se enfrentó a Ortiz, para que luego fuera apuñalado en el cuello y el torso por el criminal.

Ortiz huyó a pie y fue perseguido por un guardia de seguridad. Ortiz le amenazó con el cuchillo, lo que llevó al guardia a dejar de seguir a Ortiz.

La policía obtuvo imágenes de seguridad e identificó a Ortiz como el sospechoso.

Los oficiales localizaron a Ortiz en una casa en la cuadra 300 de Olive Street más tarde ese día, donde fue arrestado sin incidentes.

Ortiz fue recluido en la instalación de detención preventiva del Condado de Ventura por cargos de robo y agresión con arma mortal.

Se espera que las víctimas sobrevivan.

La Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Ventura arrestó nuevamente a una reclusa que huyó del hospital mientras recibía tratamiento el sábado por la mañana.

Sarah Beth Murphy McComack fue transportada al Centro Médico del Condado de Ventura alrededor de las 10 a.m. después de mostrar que necesitaba atención de emergencia médica.

Murphy McComack estaba detenida en la cárcel de Todd Road en Santa Paula, enfrentando posibles cargos de hurto mayor, posesión de herramientas antirrobo y entrega de identificación falsa a los agentes. McComack había estado bajo custodia desde el miércoles.

Los agentes dicen que la mujer pidió usar el baño y luego se alejó de la sala de emergencias antes de que un agente uniformado llegara al hospital.

Justo después de las 11 a.m., los agentes de policía de Ventura localizaron a Murphy McComack y la arrestaron sin incidentes.

SB PERTURBADA POR ASESINATOS

El Departamento de Policía de SB (SBPD), está investigando un tiroteo fatal del Año Nuevo 2018 en el centro de Santa Bárbara, por lo que vecinos de la zona quedaron conmocionados de la macabra escena en la primera mañana del año.

El SBPD respondió a un disturbio de una fiesta de Fin de Año a las 3:30 a.m. en la esquina de las calles De la Vina y Victoria.

Poco después de que los operadores recibieran informes de al menos cinco disparos efectuados en el lugar, cuando los agentes llegaron, encontraron a dos víctimas.

Un hombre fue declarado muerto en la escena, en medio de la calle y la segunda víctima fue transportada al hospital Cottage con múltiples heridas de bala.

«Parece que ahora hay dos escenas de crímenes. Quizás uno en los residentes y luego uno en el exterior».

La cinta amarilla fue extendida en la cuadra 200 de Victoria y la cuadra 1300 de De la Vina, mientras barricadas bloquearon el tráfico y el paso de peatones.

Hasta el lunes por la tarde no se realizado ningún arresto y se desconoce si el incidente estuvo relacionado con pandillas.

Los detectives han estado preguntando de puerta en puerta para buscar a cualquier persona que pueda haber sido testigo de los hechos.

Algunos vecinos que estaban afuera en las horas previas al amanecer dicen que estaban conmocionados en la escena.

Un escudo circular naranja fue ha configurado para bloquear cualquier visión de la víctima, que al parece era un hombre.

Los detectives y agentes trazaron más de 20 marcadores de escenas del crimen en el área para indicar puntos de interés relacionados con el ataque y cómo reaccionaron las víctimas ante el mismo.

La zona de los hechos es principalmente residencial con algunos negocios.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrested two known gang members during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon in El Rio.

Sheriff’s investigators attempted to stop 20-year-old Gerald Silva at around 2 p.m. on the 300 block of Stroube Street. Silva is a known gang member and is currently on parole.

Silva was in a vehicle with Joel Mendoza, 20, of El Rio, another known gang member who was recently released from California State Prison.

While deputies attempted to conduct the traffic stop, Mendoza exited the moving vehicle and fled on foot.

Deputies said Mendoza ran in the area of nearby homes, jumped over fences and tried to discard narcotic paraphernalia, which was later located by a sheriff’s K-9 unit.

Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility where he faces possible charges for resisting and/or obstructing a public officer, narcotic related violations, and violation of terms of his release.

While deputies pursued Mendoza, Silva drove off in his vehicle. Deputies searched the area and located Silva on the 2500 block of Cortez Street.

He was found to be in possession of narcotics and was arrested on multiple parole violations.

Both Silva and Mendoza were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER STABBING

A Ventura man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing an employee at a Family Discount Store Sunday afternoon.

Police say 29-year-old Gilbert Ortiz of Ventura entered the discount store on the 100 block of Main Street at around 1:30 p.m.

The female clerk asked him to leave the store after she saw him selecting items from behind the front counter.

Ortiz allegedly lunged over the counter at the clerk, stabbing her with a knife, cutting her on the face and hand.

A male passerby confronted Ortiz, who then stabbed him in the neck and torso.

Ortiz fled on foot and was pursued by a security guard. Ortiz threatened to guard with the knife, leading the guard to stop following Ortiz.

Police obtained security footage and identified Ortiz as the suspect. Officers located Ortiz at a home on the 300 block of Olive Street later that day. He was arrested without incident.

Ortiz was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention facility on complaints of of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a weapon.

The victims are expected to survive.

ARRESTED AFTER ESCAPING HOSPITAL

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office recaptured an inmate that walked away from the hospital while receiving treatment Saturday morning.

Sarah Beth Murphy McComack was transported to Ventura County Medical Center at around 10 a.m. after showing symptoms of a medical emergency.

Murphy McComack was being held at Todd Road Jail Facility in Santa Paula facing possible charges of grand theft, possession of burglar tools, and providing false identification to officers. McComack had been in custody since Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies say Murphy McComack asked to use the restroom and then walked away from the emergency room before a uniformed deputy had arrived at the hospital.

Just after 11 a.m., Ventura police officers located Murphy McComack and arrested her without incident. She now faces additional charges for escape from custody.

SANTA BARBARA NEIGHBORS DISTURBED BY NEW YEAR’S SHOOTING

The Police Department is investigating a fatal 2018 New Year’s Day shooting in downtown Santa Barbara.

Neighbors were shock at the scene to start the new year.

Santa Barbara Police Department (SBPD), agents responded to an New Years Eve party disturbance at 3:30 a.m. on the corner of De la Vina and Victoria Streets.

Shorty after dispatchers received reports of at least five shots fired on scene. When officers arrived they found two shooting victims.

One male victim was pronounced dead at the scene on the street, while the second victim was transported to Cottage hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Yellow tape was stretched out down in the 200 block of Victoria and the 1300 block of De la Vina.

Barricades were up to block traffic and pedestrians.

Multiple police units were on the scene and until the publication of this article no arrest have been made and it is unknown if the incident was gang related. Detectives went door to door to look for anyone who may have been a witness.

Some neighbors who were out in the pre-dawn hours say they were shocked at the scene.

An orange circular shield has been set up to block any viewing of the victim, who appears to be a male.

Over 20 crime scene markers were also laid out in the area to indicate points of interest linked to the shooting and the victims path before stopping in the traffic lanes where the body was found.

The location is mainly dense residential with some commercial businesses.
