The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has deployed trained victim advocates to assist individuals affected by the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
These advocates are stationed at the FEMA-run Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) near UCLA, following a request from the City of Los Angeles for additional support during this large-scale disaster response.
In collaboration with the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA), Southern California counties have joined forces to address the emotional and logistical needs of fire victims. With approval from Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko, three victim advocates are on-site, providing essential resources and guidance to thousands of affected families.
The advocates are assisting residents with tasks such as recovering vital records, applying for disaster relief loans, and accessing counseling services.
“We stand with the people of Los Angeles as they begin the difficult journey of recovery,” said Nasarenko. “Our dedicated advocates are here to ensure they receive the care, resources, and advocacy they need.”
Teams from Ventura County, alongside those from San Luis Obispo, Riverside, Las Vegas, and NOVA, will be available at the DRC daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through February 2, 2025.
