Juan Sandoval Arévalo y Christopher, pandilleros registrados fueron detenidos por agentes del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard (OXPD), el viernes pasado, por portar un arma cargada y estar en posesión de narcóticos.

Los oficiales asignados al Equipo de Vigilancia de Vecindarios observaron un vehículo pasar una luz roja cerca de la intersección de Rose Avenue y First Street.

Acto seguido, los agentes hicieron una parada vial en relación con la infracción de tráfico y entraron en contacto con el conductor (Sandoval), y su pasajero (Arévalo).

Los oficiales hicieron una verificación de antecedentes y encontraron que ambos ocupantes eran miembros registrados de una pandilla criminal con sede en Oxnard y también señalaron que habían servido con el mandato judicial civil del “Gang Injuction” que está vigente en esta ciudad.

Sandoval y Arévalo, por estar en contacto violaron dicha ley,  también conocida como “Código Antipandillas”, entre otras cosas manda que pandilleros no entren en contacto con otros.

Los oficiales retiraron al conductor (Sandoval) del vehículo para su detención, y fue cuando se enteraron de que había un arma de fuego en el interior del coche.

Los agentes lo esposaron rápidamente y detuvieron a su pasajero también.

Ahí encontraron una pistola semiautomática cargada calibre 22 en la consola central y una cantidad de metanfetamina también fue hallada en el bolsillo de una de las puertas.

Los dos hombres fueron detenidos por violaciones armas de fuego, posesión y transporte ilegal de narcóticos y violar las condiciones del “Gang Injuction”

Al mismo tiempo, otra búsqueda en Arévalo reveló que tenía una pequeña cantidad de metanfetamina oculta en su cuerpo.

Sandoval y Arévalo fueron trasladados a la Cárcel del Condado de Ventura bajo múltiples cargos por delitos graves.

ARRESTADOS POR ARMAS

Cuatro sujetos, tres hombres y una mujer fueron capturados por agentes del Alguacil del Condado De SB, en Santa María debido a la portación ilegal de armas.

En la cuadra 700 de la calle Mariposa fueron capturados Andrew Arreola de 52 años de edad, y su hijo de 32 años, Andrew Jr. Arreola así como a Ruben Estrada y Kristin Azevedo.

Detectives del Sheriff de la Oficina de Investigaciones Especiales de la Policía del Condado de Santa Bárbara y el Equipo de Respuesta de Cumplimiento buscaron una persona buscada en el bloque 700 de East Mariposa en Santa María.

Durante el cateo de la residencia, las autoridades encontraron una escopeta de cañón corto cargado y un rifle SKS estilo sin carga con un cargador de alta capacidad.

Arreola Sr. y Jr. son criminales condenados en el pasado y quienes tienen prohibido poseer armas de fuego.

Se obtuvo una orden de registro y una tercera arma de fuego fue confiscada en la residencia, además drogas y parafernalia.

La evidencia adicional lleva a creer a los niños que vivían en la residencia habían sido expuestos a esas armas y drogas.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB EN LOMPOC

El Departamento de Policía de Lompoc y el Boys and Girls Club del Condado de Santa Bárbara se han unido una vez más.

«Queremos centrarnos en los niños en barrios específicos para asegurarse de que ellos a salir de ese ambiente y en el Boys and Girls Club», indicó Michael Baker, CEO de la institución.

El club y el departamento de policía se han unido para hacer que los niños estén fuera del peligro y el crimen de las calles.

«En realidad sólo tenemos un competidor para los niños y son las pandillas, por lo que nosotros buscamos unir a niños a nuestro grupo, el cual es de un un ambiente positivo para mantenerlos comprometidos», manifiesta Baker.

Para niños como Sonia Moreno el Boys and Girls Club es como una segunda casa.

Es el lugar donde acude cinco días a la semana, mientras que sus padres trabajan.

«Me gusta venir aquí porque mis amigos están aquí y porque mi papá tiene que trabajar», comparte Moreno.  ν

Es también un lugar que puede llegar e interactuar con sus compañeros.

«Jugamos a la pelota, dodgeball, béisbol y luego nos vamos afuera so seguimos trabajando adentro» afirma la pequeña.

Al igual que ella, muchos de los niños en el club están aquí por las mismas razones.

«Este es un lugar positivo para niños que generalmente están encerrados en su casa porque sus padres están ocupados con el trabajo, por lo que dijo que esto es divertido, porque hay un montón de niños acá», indica Raymond Ochoa.

Sin embargo, esto es más que sólo un lugar divertido.

El club ayuda a las familias que no pueden pagar la cuota anual de $40 o viven muy lejos de las instalaciones.

Tenemos un servicio de van, donde los niños son traídos cada mañana y llevados de vuelta a casa.

«Tenemos que asegurarnos de que las finanzas no sean una barrera para niños vengan al Boys and Girls Club», asegura Baker.

A partir de las 6 de esta tarde, el club y el departamento de policía estarán dirigiendo un paseo por la comunidad con la esperanza de llegar a más niños.

Juan Sandoval and Christopher Arevalo who are a registered gang members were arrested by officers from the Oxnard Police Department (OXPD), last Friday, for carrying a loaded gun and being in possession of narcotics last Friday.

The officers assigned to the Neighborhood Policing Team observed a vehicle run a red light on Rose Avenue near First Street.

They made an enforcement stop regarding the traffic infraction and contacted the driver, Sandoval, and his passenger, Arevalo.

Officers did a records check and found that both occupants were document members of an Oxnard based criminal street gang and also noted they had been served with the civil gang injunction.

Sandoval and Arevalo were in violation of the gang injunction by associating with each other.

Officers removed the driver (Sandoval) from the vehicle to affect the arrest and learned that there was a gun inside the car.

The officers quickly handcuffed and arrested both men and conducted a search of the vehicle.

A loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun was found in the center console and a quantity of methamphetamine was found in the door pocket. Both men were arrested for firearms violations, narcotics transportation violations and violating the conditions of the civil gang injunction.

A booking search of Arevalo revealed he had a small amount of methamphetamine concealed on his person.

Sandoval and Arevalo were booked into the Ventura County Jail for multiple Felony charges.

The Oxnard Police Department continues to encourage residents to be partners in public safety as part of the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative. TWO STABBED IN SANTA MARIA

The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating an early morning stabbing that landed three people in the ER at Marian Regional Medical Center.

The stabbing occurred in the 2400 block of S. Bradley Road at 2:14 a.m. after the individuals involved got into a fight, according to authorities.

It’s not known if this incident was gang related.

Officers responded to the hospital where three male stabbing victims had already arrived for medical attention. The victims suffered non-life threatening stab wounds.

No suspect(s) have been arrested at this time as the investigation continues.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB MAKING A DIFERENCE IN LOMPOC

The Lompoc Police Department and the United Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara County are teaming up once again.

«We want to target kids in specific neighborhoods to make sure we get them out of that environment and into the Boys and Girls Club,» Michael Baker, CEO of the United Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara County.

The club and the police department are teaming up to get kids off of the streets and into places like the Boys and Girls Club.

«We really do only have one competitor for the kids and that’s gangs and we want kids to join our gang a positive environment to keep them engaged,» says Baker.

For kids like Sonya Moreno the club is like a second home. It’s the place she comes to five days a week while her parents are at work.

«I like coming here because my friends are here and because my parent’s have to work,» says Moreno.

It’s also a place she can come and interact with her peers.

«We play kickball, dodge ball, baseball and then we go outside after we are inside,» she says.

Just like her, many of the kids at the club are here while their parents are working.

«This is a positive place kids are usually stuck at home sometimes because their parents are busy with work so I say this is fun because there are a lot of kids here,» says Raymond Ochoa.

However, this is more than just a fun place. The club helps those families that can’t afford the $40 annual fee or live further away. Those kids are picked up every morning and then taken back home.

«We have to make sure that finances is not a barrier to kids joining the boys and girls club,» says Baker.

Starting at 6 tonight, the club and the police department will be leading a community walk in hopes of reaching out to more kids.
