José Guadalupe Langarica, de 55 años, fue detenido después de violar y secuestrar temporalmente a una joven en Oxnard, indicó el Departamento de Policía de Oxnard (OXPD).

En las primeras horas de la mañana del domingo una mujer de 23 años de edad estaba caminando sola en el área de la cuadra 600 de South Harbor Blvd en Oxnard, cuando fue contactada por Langarica, quien se transportaba en un pickup.

El sospechoso siguió a la víctima y trató de persuadirla para entrar en su camioneta.

La víctima se negó a sus avances y siguió caminando en Harbor Blvd.

Según el OXPD, Langarica no se dio por vencido y finalmente estacionó y salió de su vehículo para seguir a la víctima a la zona del Oxnard State Beach Park donde agarró a la mujer, y la llevó a una zona aislada donde la agredió sexualmente.

Langarica huyó de la zona a pie después del crimen, sin embargo la víctima notificó inmediatamente a la policía.

Después de una investigación de dos meses la Unidad de Asalto Sexual y la Unidad de Protección Familiar del OXPD, y con la asistencia del personal del Laboratorio Criminal del Condado de Ventura, el sospechoso fue identificado a través de su ADN como Langarica, residente de Oxnard.

Por la mañana (8:40 a.m.), del 2 de julio agentes encontraron a Langarica en la cuadra 1200 de la Holly Avenue de la Ciudad de Oxnard.

Él fue detenido sin incidentes y después fue fichado en la cárcel del Condado de Ventura bajo cargos de sospecha de secuestro, asalto sexual, violación por la fuerza o temor, penetración digital y agresión sexual.

La Fianza del imputado se fijó en $ 750 mil.

Las autoridades piden que si alguien tiene información sobre Langarica o el incidente ponerse en contacto con el detective Dobrosky al OXPD al, 805.385.7609.

INCENDIO EN SB

Horas antes que la comunidad estaba lista para despertar y empezar a celebrar el 4 de julio un incendio se desarrolló en la parte norte de la calle State en Santa Bárbara, el cual dejó sólo pérdidas materiales.

Según las autoridades, alrededor de la 1:00 a.m. miembros del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santa Bárbara respondieron a un reporte de humo y llamas saliendo desde el techo de un edificio en la cuadra 900 de la calle State.

«Los equipos desplegaron rápidamente las mangueras a través de la parte frontal de dos negocios para descubrir un fuego en el patio detrás de los edificios», indicó el portavoz del Departamento, el ingeniero Rich Griguoli.

El fuego comenzó detrás de Namaste, ubicado en 922 State St. y Rooms & Gardens, localizado en el 924 State Street.

«La acción agresiva de los bomberos evitó la propagación del fuego a negocios vecinos».

Así, tres camiones cisternas, un camión y un batallón especial fueron parte de la respuesta inicial.

Apoyo adicional fueron llamados para ayudar en el incendio, por lo que bomberos de Montecito y del Condado ayudaron para terminar con el incendio.

No se reportaron heridos, y según las autoridades la causa del incendio todavía está bajo investigación.

NUEVA LÍNEA DE AUTOBÚS A LOMPOC

A partir del 11 de julio los residentes de Lompoc tendrán acceso a una nueva línea de autobús que conectará su ciudad con la de Santa Bárbara.

De acuerdo con un comunicado de prensa de la Clean Air Express, ellos proveerán el servicio de transporte para los residentes del Condado Norte a sus puestos de trabajo en Goleta y Santa Bárbara,

La línea de autobús comenzará a operar a partir del 11 de julio.

Un evento de lanzamiento se llevará a cabo a las nueve de la mañana, afuera del restaurante “Pea Soup Anderson” situado en Buellton, cerca de la carretera 101.

El horario del autobús ‘tiene previsto salir de Buellton a las 9:30 a.m. para llegar a Santa Bárbara a las 10:25 a.m., con paradas en La Cumbre Plaza, en diferentes sectores de State St., para terminar en el centro comercial Paseo Nuevo.

A continuación, el autobús regresará a Buellton a las 11:50 a.m.

El autobús será gratis el día de su lanzamiento.

Las tarifas durante el servicio regular costarán $7 en cada dirección.

Para aquellos que quieran ahorrar algo de dinero también habrá disponible un talonario de 10 pases que costará $50 a través de la página virtual de Clean Air Express: www.cleanairexpress.com.

José Guadalupe Langarica, 55, was arrested after trying to kidnapped and possible rape of a 23 years old woman in Oxnard, the Oxnard Police Department (OXPD), said.

In the early morning hours of Sunday a 23-year-old female was walking alone in the area of the 600 block of South Harbor Blvd in Oxnard when she was approached by Langarica in a truck.

The suspect followed the victim and tried to persuade her to get into his truck.

The victim declined his advances and continued to walk on Harbor Blvd.

According to the OXPD, Langarica didn’t give up and eventually parked and exited his truck to follow the victim to the area of Oxnard State Beach Park where he grabbed the woman and took her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her. 

Langarica fled the area on foot after the assault, but the victim immediately notified police.

After a two month investigation by the Oxnard Police Department’s Sexual Assault and Family Protection Unit, and with the assistance of the Ventura County Crime Lab staff, the suspect was identified through DNA as Langarica, an Oxnard resident.

In the morning (8:40 a.m) of July 2, Langarica was located in the 1200 block of Holly Avenue in the City of Oxnard.

He was taken into custody without incident then he was booked into jail under suspicion of kidnapping for the purposes of sexual assault, rape by force or fear, digital penetration, and sexual battery. Langarica’s bail is set at $750,000.

FIREFIGHTERS CONTAIN FIRE IN SB

Hours before the community was ready wake up and to start celebrate the 4 of July a fire developed in upper State Street in Santa Barbara, leaving only material losses.

According to the authorities, around 1 a.m. Santa Barbara City Fire Crews responded to a report of smoke and flames coming from the roof of a building on the 900 block of State Street. 

“Crews quickly deployed hose lines through the front of two businesses to discover a fire in the courtyard behind the buildings,” department spokesman Engineer Rich Griguoli said.

The fire began behind Namaste at 922 State St. and Rooms & Gardens at 924 State St.

“Aggressive action by firefighters prevented the spread of the fire to neighboring businesses.”

Three engines, the truck, and a Battalion Chief were part of the initial response.

Additional resources were called to assist with the blaze. 

The Montecito and County Fire assisted with coverage of the rest of the city while SB City Fire Crews worked to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

NEW BUS LINE TO LOMPOC

Starting on July 11 Lompoc residents will have access to a new bus line that connects Santa Barbara and their city.

The Clean Air Express will provide transportation for North County residents to their jobs in Goleta and Santa Barbara, according to a news release.

The bus line will begin service July 11.

A 9 a.m. launch event will be held outside Pea Soup Anderson’s Restaurant located in Buellton, near the 101 HWY.

The bus’ schedule is set to leave Buellton at 9:30 a.m. and will be arriving in Santa Barbara at 10:25 a.m, with stops at La Cumbre Plaza, mid-town and Paseo Nuevo mall.

Then the bus will be returning to Buellton at 11:50 a.m.

The bus will be free to ride on launch day.

Rates during regular service its tickets will cost $7 each direction.

For those ones that would like to save some money booklet of 10 passes can be purchased for $50 through the Clean Air Express website at www.cleanairexpress.com.

The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, Santa Barbara County, Buellton Visitors Bureau, Solvang Conference & Visitors Bureau and Visit Santa Ynez Valley are responsible for the funds that make the new line possible.
