The Terrace Foundation

As the Founder of The Terrace Foundation, it has been a privilege and an honor to see our little nonprofit organization take on such immeasurable projects seemingly with ease.

Our organization could be likened to a beautiful watercolor painting. While there is structure, there is also controlled chaos.

For the past four years, I have seen a myriad of programs, organizations and differences emerge on a canvas forming a kaleidoscope of colors that somehow seem to blend together with soft loving edges but always keeping its structure and defined lines.

Through a team effort, we have somehow been able to form partnerships without pretentiousness, alliances without reservations and the curiosity of those with skepticism.

There is something much bigger that underlies these achievements, a new awareness that is becoming more prevalent with every passing minute, an urgency to take control of our own food supplies.

The Terrace Foundation Team has blended their passion for a joint mission.

They have formed a painting of the colors of inclusiveness, the lines of blending details and the outreach of responsible giving.

This has been the catalyst of the birth of a movement in Santa Barbara.

Leading by example our team and organization has attracted other nonprofits and organizations to join and find commonality in our missions and through combined efforts attempt to fill the many holes in our community created by the inherent tendency to proclaim victory when victory is only achieved through the collective efforts of many.

I have taken the liberty as the Founder to name each of our team members.

Partner with unwavering understanding (Teresa Jeffries), Champion with insight to see the vision (Manny Ayala), Eastside Activist with bold ideas (Sebastian Aldana Jr.), Farmer with callused hands of honest and endless toil (Jacob Miller), Teacher with a caring heart of passion (Clara Cadwell), Chef with loving hands of preparation (Pete Clements), Activist with dedication to detailed implementation (Henry Rosas), Hostess with a face of invitation (Nila Barja), and Mother hen with nurturing protection (Coco Fernandez).

With these leaders, our kitchen staff, the farm team have formed a pallet of vivid, beautiful colors that are directly responsible for the partnerships and affiliations that help us paint better pictures for those in need throughout the county.

Those organizations who have become part of this colorful masterpiece are Food from the Heart, Veggie Rescue, Explore Ecology, UCSB, The Turner Foundation, City of SB Parks and Recreation, Trinity Gardens, Hope Elementary School, La Cumbre Middle School, UCP work Inc., Tutti Frutti Farms, Pete Clements Catering, Mental Wellness Center, Community Partners in Caring and many more.

The Terrace Foundation team is calling on the people of Santa Barbara to help us by donating to any of these organizations, and by doing so, assuring every single citizen that you will be helping us all to continue serving the most vulnerable.

Help us eliminate Food Deserts, food insecurity, malnutrition, and fight the prevalent cases of Diabetes and Obesity in the Latino population through distribution and education.
