A man from Oak View was sentenced to six years in state prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple felony domestic violence charges stemming from a brutal assault on his partner, Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced.

Christopher Lee Wieser, 45, was convicted on Sept. 22, 2025, of inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant, attempted aggravated mayhem, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Jurors also found true two special allegations: that Wieser caused great bodily injury and that the victim was particularly vulnerable.
The sentencing follows a violent attack that occurred on April 14, 2022, inside the couple’s home in Oak View, according to prosecutors.
During the assault, Wieser repeatedly punched the female victim, causing her to lose consciousness, and strangled her, authorities said. At one point, he broke a glass picture frame and used a piece of the shattered glass to scratch her cheek. Prosecutors said the violence continued into the following morning.
The victim was eventually able to escape the home, seek help and report the assault to law enforcement. Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies later arrested Wieser.
“This conviction reflects the victim’s remarkable courage and resilience in coming forward, cooperating with the prosecution, and testifying at trial,” Senior Deputy District Attorney Emily Reber said in a statement. “The victim’s strength and bravery were essential to holding the defendant accountable for his acts of violence.”
District Attorney Nasarenko emphasized that the sentence sends a clear message about accountability in cases of domestic violence.
The case was prosecuted by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities did not disclose additional details about the victim in order to protect her privacy.
Domestic violence advocates continue to stress the importance of reporting abuse and seeking help, noting that early intervention can save lives. Anyone experiencing domestic violence is encouraged to contact local law enforcement or a trusted support organization for assistance.
